***Updated review*** 5 star nowDefinitely recommend this pen because not only is it functional but it's a cool addition to decor on your desk. As I said before it's fun to spin. Initially, the pen I received wasn't writing too well however after speaking their customer service (which is amazing btw), they stood behind their product and ensured quality with a replacement pen, and the new one definitely writes much better. Again I was amazed with the customer service and their care for the product they are selling, along with having this awesome pen on my desk as conversation piece. 10/10 would recommend this pen to anyone for themselves or a gift idea for someone else!_________________Initial review:"It's a cool pen, fun to spin and not awkward to hold but it writes like a normal pen nothing too fancy or special. For a unique gift its a good idea but otherwise there is much better pens for way cheaper."TL;DR: It took a while, and multiple orders, but I FINALLY got the correct version (w/ meteoroid embedded) after contacting manufacturer.… Quick response (especially considering they're on the other side of the planet from me) and excellent service!When I first heard about the Hoverpen (v. 1), I thought it was an interesting idea.With 2.0, I thought it was appealing enough to purchase one for myself and another as a gift.But the version that REALLY peaked my interest was the version with bits of meteoroid embed in it; I'm more than a bit of a science fiction fan, and also fascinated with the actual history of manned space flight and the science that allows humans to survive in space.Some will be put off by the price tag for this version, but I own fountain pens that retail for many (many-Many-MANY) times more, so I didn't hesitate to add it to my cart.… As is most often the case with Amazon Prime purchases, the pen shipped quickly and arrived the next morning. Unfortunately, rather than the version with the bit of meteoroid embedded in the end, I received the "standard" Hoverpen 2.0 with the 18k gold plated cap ring. Checking the label on the bottom of the box, it claimed to be the meteoroid embedded version, but was absolutely NOT correct.… Submitting a request for an exchange for the correct version was simple and didn't cost me any more than a brief trip to my local UPS Store.… And the replacement arrived the next morning. And was also the wrong pen; again the "standard" version with the 18k gold plated cap ring. Again, with the same incorrect label on the bottom of the box.… Then, an online chat with Amazon support to ensure they were aware of the issue.… So I submitted the request for a refund (since you can't request an exchange for an exchanged item), and submitted a NEW order for the meteoroid embedded version.… And repeat (wrong pen in a mislabeled box).… And repeat exchange (wrong pen in a mislabeled box).This time, I contacted Novium. Who immediately shipped me the correct version of the pen directly rather than from the stock they'd already sent to the Amazon Fulfillment Centers (since Amazon is handling logistics for fulfilling Hoverpen orders).So I'm quite happy with both my "normal" Hoverpen 2.0 (floating next to my work laptop in my home office) and the Meteoroid Embedded version (floating next to my personal laptop on the other side of my home office).In all, I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Novium product again. In fact, I've already backed their Hoverpen 3.0 campaign on Indiegogo.Item was poorly shipped. Box was dented in the corners. The pen and holder had minor scratches from shipping. For the price that was paid, packaging should have been better. It was a gift and returning it wasn't an option. Over cool looking pen. At the end of the day the pen writes and looks great on a desk.Perfect gift for someone that has everything. Quite an impressive desk piece. Writes smoothly.Very cool product, got it for my businessman dad and he seems to love it.I gave this pen as a gift to my husband. He likes it a lot. Has said it writes well. It’s fun to look at too.This pen’s design is out of this world!Coupling contemporary science with 1800’s aesthetics, the hover pen 2.0 provides a truly unique touch to your work space.I’m an academic writer, and love interesting pens and pencils as I use them so frequently.I have one complaint about this pen. It’s a standard ballpoint. Which is largely unimpressive… for such an expensive and elegant design, you’d hope for gel, or rollerball!Luckily it’s replaceable. I threw away the ballpoint refills immediately (forgive my honesty.)There are not a lot of D1 gel refills out there… I recommend going to Zebra! Find them on google. It is a MUCH needed replacement, and costs $3 plus shipping for the refill.In my opinion, it’s not an option! Haha.Other than that I love this thing! I’m already signed up for the hover pen 3.0 which seems to feature many much needed improvements. (I got the roller ball option. They are also going to feature a nib point option.)This is well worth the money, as long as you replace the horrible ballpoint.This set looks great and comes nicely packaged.First off it's a lot of fun the kids at school love it even when I'm marking their tests. However I feel it was overpriced. I indulge myself a bit as I wanted something cool at school for the kids and it allowed me to explain how it worked to them in the science but again I feel overpriced especially on a teacher salaryThe cardboard gift box was delivered in a postal bag without any padding. Luckily the gift box was not damaged. The silver coating on the pedestal was worn away around the inner rim. This is clearly unacceptable for a gift - especially such an expensive gift. Extremely disappointed. Returning for refund.Its cool but it's way to expensive tlfor what it is.bit expensive for a pen but its pretty cool.浮遊する(中空に完全に浮いているわけではありません）ボールペンということで、噂には聞いていましたが迷った挙句に買いました。少々お高いのが難点ですが原始的なテクノロジーではありますが面白い作品だと思います。ボールペンとしては軸がちょっと細いので慣れるまで書きにくいかもしれません。カップを外すタイプなので机上を雑にしている方はキャップを失くさないようにしないと浮遊しなくなります。スタイルを損なわないデザインでノック式が開発されたらより使いやすいかもしれません。
